I grew up in Chicago in a musical and artistic family. Dad was a touring organist, so I heard much popular and light classical music. During those years, I fell in love with J.S. Bach and took formal study in organ, which culminated in a Master's in performance from Arizona State. A commitment to Christ brought me to a lifetime of service, with my wife Laurel, as a minister in music, plus whatever else the church needed. For decades I wrote and staged two or three musical dramas a year, focusing on Scriptural subjects not commonly seen: Abraham, Isaiah, Judas, Ecclesiastes, Creation & Fall, Pentecost, the Unwrapped Gift of Christmas, and most recently a setting of the Sermon on the Mount.
We live on a leafy hillside threaded by an old logging road above Rainier, Oregon, and still active with composing, reading (Bible, theology, humor, science fiction), crosswords, gardening, photography, and philosophy.
